News Desk: Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser with the rank of State Minister, Professor Dr. M Aminul Islam, who was serving in the Ministry of Education, has resigned.
On Monday (March 10), he himself told reporters that he had sent his resignation letter to the Cabinet Division. He resigned within four months of assuming the responsibility. However, Dr. M Aminul Islam did not agree to disclose anything about the reason for his resignation.
It is learned that Aminul Islam resigned on the advice of the top level of the government. According to sources in the Cabinet Division, he resigned citing personal reasons.
Professor M Aminul Islam was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser with the rank of State Minister on November 10 last year. At the same time, he was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Education. Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud was serving as the advisor to the Ministry of Education and Planning until now. He stepped down from the Ministry of Education on March 5. On that day, Dhaka University's International Relations Department professor and human rights activist Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar (C.R. Abrar) was appointed as the new education advisor.
But the day before, Aminul Islam told reporters that he was going to take oath as the new advisor. He also posted a status on Facebook about this. His statement sparked controversy. The next day, the new education advisor joined, but Aminul Islam was absent from the event.
Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 and fled to India due to the mass uprising of students and the public. The cabinet was dissolved on that day. The next day, the President dissolved the 12th National Parliament. Then, on August 8, the interim government was sworn in. Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus took charge as the chief advisor to this government. At that time, 16 advisors were appointed. Three advisors could not take the oath that day as they were out of Dhaka and the country. They took the oath later. Later, four more advisors joined the interim government.
