BSFC's carrom game is held in California with grand entusiasm

Foreign correspondant: Carom finals, prize distribution and cultural evening of various events of Bangladesh Posts Federation of California BSFC were organized at the Luxor Banquet Hall in Orange County, California. Last 24 November 2023, Friday, 24 November 2023, with great enthusiasm and excitement, the meeting was organized by Kamrul Bhuiya, president of the BSFC Sports Association. Carrom Competition is a grand cultural evening and awards ceremony attended by Los Angeles' social and cultural personalities. Carrom is a tabletop game. The game has strategic similarities with billiards and table shuffleboard. Another name of this game is finger billiards. Carom was invented in South Asia. However, it is not that there is no debate about it. Some say the game first started in Sri Lanka. Many say that Indians once spread the game to Sri Lanka. Many people say in Portugal. After the discovery, when the game spread around the world, it was played with different rules in different countries. In Southern California schools from 1950 to 1980, carrom was played according to the American method. The game rules were similar to billiards. Another name of carrom is finger billiards. The International Carrom Federation (ICF) was formed in 1988 in Chennai, India. Since then certain rules have been followed in national and international matches. The first carrom competition at the international level was held in 1993. Bangladesh Carrom Federation was formed in 1990. Although carrom game is widespread and popular everywhere in Bangladesh, the reason why it has not been successful at the international level may be that the game is played with different rules at the grassroots level. The former national player of Bangladesh is the president of the United States Central Committee of the Bangabandhu Cultural Association and the Bangladesh Association of Los Angeles (BALA). Syed M. Hossain Babu said that regular sports keep the body and mind cheerful, love for the country and increase the sense of duty and responsibility towards the country. Expatriate Bangladeshis living in different cities of California participated in the BSFC carrom competition with enthusiasm. Carrom runner-up Shahid Alam and Khairul Zaman, third place Md. Ashrafur Rahman Jewel and Asad Zaman Russell Kapal Carrom champion Kamrul Bhuiyan and Afroz Lisa, runners-up Asad Zaman Russell and Asma Zaman. After dinner, popular singers of Los Angeles performed by Rashni Alam. Kaveri Rahman, Shaheed Ahmed Mithu, Seemi Israel, Shaheed Alam, Afroz Lucky, Nahar Lipi, Papadi Sarkar, Rabsa, Lamisha and Simreen gave mesmerizing grand cultural evening.
