SSC examinee spends days in fear, harassed in 'false' case to escape beating case

Kamalnagar (Laxmipur)correspondant  :  A complaint has been received that a student aspirant for SSC exam was harassed by his family members by filing a counter 'false' case to avoid the case of assault and beating based on the game of cricket in Kamalnagar, Laxmipur. The SSC candidate named Shahadat Hossain is spending his days in fear of being detained or arrested in the false case under investigation in PBI. Other members of the family are disoriented due to various threats of the opponent including harassment in the case. In this situation, the school student Shahadat's family wants to be released from the 'false' case along with the demand of punishment of the real criminals through fair investigation of the incident. They made this demand at a press conference at the local office of a newspaper in the upazila's Karitla market on Thursday afternoon. In a written statement at the press conference, Shahadat Hossain, son of Abul Kashem of Charthika area of the upazila, along with his family members said that this year he is participating in the SSC examination from the local Faju Mierhat School and College. Before the start of the exam, on the afternoon of January 18, the neighbor said. He goes to play cricket with the rabbi in a field near the house. During the game, there was a quarrel between the two of them. On hearing this news, Rabbi's uncle Rabiul and others went and beat him (Shahadat) severely and seriously injured him. When he was seriously injured, the locals rescued him and admitted him to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital. On returning home after three days of treatment, his uncle Nurul Amin filed a case in Lakshmipur Senior Judicial Magistrate Court accusing five people. The judge took cognizance of the case and issued summons against the accused. Meanwhile, in order to escape from the case, the accused filed a counter-case in the name of seven people, making Nurul Amin the main accused and Shahadat the second accused in the same court 20 days after the incident (February 8). The case filed by Rabbi's grandmother Shefali Begum is being investigated by the Police Bureau of Investigation, Noakhali region on the orders of the court. His family members, including Shahadat, claim that the counter-case filed by the Rabbi's family to escape their case is completely false and baseless. Shahadat's uncle Nurul Amin is staying in Lakshmipur district town and father Abul Kashem is staying in Dhaka for work. That is why, even though none of them were present at the time of the incident, they have been made accused in the case. They said that Rabbi's uncle is a member of Noakhali District Police. They have been threatening the defendants with harassment in this case by taking advantage of that advantage. Therefore, they want exemption from the harassing counter-case with the demand of punishment of the real culprits through a fair investigation of the two cases. Apart from SSC candidate Shahadat, family members including his uncle Nurul Amin, grandmother Amena Begum and sister-in-law Bibi Ayesha were present in the press conference. Meanwhile, when asked about the counter-case, Md. Rabbi's uncle Rabiul Islam said that the rabbi was also injured in the incident and was treated at a local private hospital. After the incident, they tried to solve the matter locally. But Shahadat's uncle did not take it into account and filed a case against them in the court. Due to which, they later filed the counter-suit without getting any recourse. Meanwhile, the investigation officer of the case PBI Deputy Inspector Md. Sajib said, there is no chance of being influenced by anyone in the investigation. The investigation report will be given to the court in the light of the actual incident.
