Lalmonirhat District Representative: A college student named Israt Jahan (Maufiq) committed suicide in Lalmonirhat after being unable to bear the torture and humiliation.
On Friday (July 26) night, the girl's father, Abdul Matin Mondal, filed the case as the plaintiff. He mentioned the names of 12 accused in the case. Sadar police station recovered his hanging body last Wednesday.
The deceased student is the daughter of Abdul Matin Mandal of Guriyadah village of Gokunda union of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila. He was appearing for the HSC examination this year from the local Kaunia Degree College.
It has been said that Abdul Matin Mandal had a long-standing family conflict with his neighbours, Sultan Mandal, Siraj Ali Mandal and Shahjahan Ali, sons of deceased Shariat Ullah Mandal. The student chased away the ducks when she went to the field last Wednesday morning. The accused beat him and injured him due to this incident. At that time, some college students tore the clothes of Moufiq.
Humiliated by this, he committed suicide by twisting a rope with the fan of the house to be alone at home at noon that day. After receiving the information, the police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Omar Farooq said, I have received a written complaint from the girl's father in this incident. The operation to arrest the accused is continuing.
