Entertainment Reporter: Vocalist Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel is no more. He passed away on Tuesday (July 30) at 11:53 PM in a hospital in the capital (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). He was 56 years old
The artist's younger brother Hassan Mohibur Reza Rubel confirmed the death. He said that the funeral of Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel will be held at Gulshan Azad Mosque today.
On the night of July 23, musician Jewel suddenly started having shortness of breath at home. When the condition worsened, he was admitted to the hospital at night. Doctors then took him to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Water accumulates in his lungs. The doctors also took out that water. Gradually his physical condition was improving. But today his condition deteriorated and he died.
Jewel was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2011. It then infects the lungs and bones. He was undergoing treatment for a long time. This artist was recovering from cancer. He used to sing and perform on a limited scale to stay physically and mentally well. In a healthy state, he said, 'I have to go through special physical and mental conditions. I need motivation now. Everyone will pray for me.
In 1992, Jewel's first song album 'Kuasha Prahar' was released. Since then, his music albums were released almost regularly. The most popular among them was 'Ek Bickel'. At one stage, people in the music industry called him the jewel of 'Ek Bickel'. Many of his songs were composed by the late bandstar Ayub Bachchu. At that time his music was classified as 'romantic-sad' genre. In an interview, Jewel said to journalist Russell Mahmood, "I was discovered by Bachchu Bhai (Ayub Bachchu). He said, sing. He played, I sang. After hearing my voice, he decided that I should sing a 'romantic-sad ballad' type of song.
Jewel's albums include 'Amr Chai Dhankam', 'Ekta Mansoor', 'Dekha Ho Na', 'Beshi Ichi Nai', 'Bedna Toti Hi Bedna', 'Firti Pathe', 'Darja Khola Baari', 'Emon Ken Holo'. Last in 2017, Jewel's single song 'Khoob Puri' was released in the tune of Bappa Majumdar.
