Alauddin Belal: Relatives including husband Faridul Islam were returning home in an ambulance from Dhaka Medical College Hospital with his wife's body. The husband also died in a road accident on the way. He returned home dead with his wife.
The accident took place on Wednesday (November 20) at noon in Balitha area of Dhamrai upazila. Faridul Islam died on the spot. Hena Khatun and Raisul Islam who were in the ambulance were seriously injured in this incident. The injured were rescued and sent back to Dhaka Medical.
Gola Highway Police and eyewitnesses said that two relatives including husband Faridul were going to Dhankora village of Saturia upazila of Manikganj by ambulance from Dhaka Medical Hospital. On the way, when the ambulance carrying the wife's body reached Balitha area of Dhamrai upazila, the vehicle burst its wheel. He lost control and hit a tree on the side of the road. The deceased Sultana's husband also died on the spot. Two other people in the ambulance were seriously injured. Later, the injured were rescued and sent to the hospital. After receiving information about the accident, a team of Gola Highway Police went to the spot and recovered the body.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gola Highway Police Station Rupal Chandra Das said that while bringing the body to Dhankora village of Manikganj district for burial at Sultana's father's house, the ambulance carrying them lost control and collided with a tree in Balitha area. Sultana's husband was also killed at this time. Following the request of the family, the bodies have been handed over to the families of both after due legal process.
