Staff reporter: Temporary railway employees have blocked the railway track at the FDC rail crossing in Dhaka demanding payment of their arrears. As a result, rail traffic between Dhaka and the rest of the country was stopped from 10:45 am. Passengers at the station suffered.
On Tuesday (December 17), passengers were seen waiting at Kamalapur Railway Station at 1 pm. Especially women and children were suffering more.
On the spot, it was seen that the Agniveena Express was supposed to leave the station at 11:30 am, but it is waiting at platform number 6. The Rajshahi Commuter was supposed to leave at 12:20 pm, but it has not yet reached the platform.
Mymensingh passenger Aklima said, our train was supposed to leave at 11:30 am. It has been almost 3 hours and the train has not left yet. I do not know when it will leave. I am suffering with my children.
Agniveena Express passenger Zafar Ali said, I have been sitting for a few hours. There is no news of the train leaving. It has not been informed when it will leave. Meanwhile, additional pressure of passengers was seen at Kamalapur Railway Station. Station officials say that the pressure of passengers has been a bit high for a few days due to the winter and school holidays in December.
In this regard, Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Md. Sajedul Islam said that train services are suspended due to the blockade. Train services will resume only when the blockade is lifted.
