After seven long years, a five-member convening committee of the Bandarban district BNP has been announced. This was confirmed in a letter signed by BNP’s senior joint secretary, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Sunday morning (February 2). The committee has appointed former Member of Parliament Rajputra Saching Prue Jerry as the convenor and former mayor Mohammad Javed Reza as the member secretary. Other members of the committee include senior joint convenor Professor Mohammad Osman Goni, joint convenor Mujibur Rashid, and member Mamya Ching.
BNP leaders mentioned that in 2017, an incomplete committee for Bandarban district BNP was announced with Mamya Ching as president and Javed Reza as general secretary, consisting of 21 members. Although the full committee was supposed to be announced within a month, the process was delayed for seven years due to internal divisions between Jerry and Mamya Ching.
The newly appointed joint convenor of the district BNP, Mujibur Rashid, expressed gratitude towards the acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, and other central leaders for announcing the long-awaited committee. He also expressed confidence that under this new committee, the Bandarban district BNP and its affiliated organizations will progress forward.
