The injured persons from the July mass uprising, reassured by the words of Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, are now returning to the hospital from the front of the Chief Advisor's residence. The information was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Faruk of Ramna police station at 2:20 AM on Sunday, February 2.
He mentioned that Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, spoke to the injured persons from the July uprising who had gathered in front of the Chief Advisor's residence. He assured them that their demands would be fulfilled. After receiving this assurance, the protesters left the area, and the road in front of the Chief Advisor's residence is now completely clear.
Earlier, around midnight on February 2, the injured from the July uprising, demanding proper medical treatment, rehabilitation, and compensation, broke through police barricades and gathered in front of the Chief Advisor’s residence on Minto Road. They held a protest there.
Hasnat Abdullah arrived shortly after the protest began and attempted to calm the protesters. During this time, the injured protesters presented seven demands to him. Hasnat listened to them carefully and expressed solidarity with their demands. He blamed government officials for hindering the rehabilitation and medical treatment of those injured in the uprising. He stated that the rehabilitation process for the injured must be properly implemented, but the officials were uncooperative. He added, "If the officials think that Sheikh Hasina will return, they are mistaken."
Addressing the injured protesters, Hasnat said, "It is true that you are not receiving proper medical treatment, and the government's people are responsible for that. The government has not properly monitored the situation. The government will take immediate steps to ensure that the injured receive proper medical care." He assured the protesters that he would raise their demands with the government. Hasnat also promised to go to the Secretariat within the week to discuss the injured individuals' medical treatment and rehabilitation.
At one point, reassured by Hasnat's words, the injured protesters left the area in front of the Chief Advisor's residence.
