News Desk: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed eight separate charge sheets against a total of 23 people, including members of the family of ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, former State Minister Sharif Ahmed, former Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Salahuddin and 14 officials of the Ministry of National Housing and Public Works, after finding evidence of misusing power to obtain a 60-katha plot in Purbachal.
It is learnt that the matter of submitting it to the court is under process after the charge sheet was approved by the ACC head office on Monday (March 10).
The ACC has filed six cases against Sheikh Hasina and Rehana's family members on charges of allocating plots to them. The cases were filed against them on January 12, 13 and 14. 21 people have been named as accused in these cases.
However, the chairman of the organization, Siddiqur Rahman Sarkar, wrote to the ACC to reconsider the names of RAJUK and its officials from the case.
It is learned that former state minister Sharif Ahmed and former private secretary to the Prime Minister Salahuddin have been newly added to the charge sheet.
The statement says that while the accused were in their highest positions in the government and as public servants, they misused the power vested in former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family and were allotted six plots on Road No. 203, Sector No. 27 of the Purbachal Housing Project for dishonest purposes despite not being eligible for the allocation. A case has been filed against the accused under Sections 161/163/164/409/109 of the Penal Code, 1860 and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
The accused in the chargesheet are former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed (Putul), sister Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Rehana's daughter and British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddique, son Radwan Mujib Siddique and another daughter Azmina Siddique.
