New committee of ‘Samikaran’ formed to pledge to reject aggressive culture

Shahbaz Khan Mashfi, Dhaka: Global University of Bangladesh Vice Chancellor and educationist Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman has called for protecting Bangladesh’s ideal culture and rejecting foreign aggressive subculture.
He made this call as the chief guest at the discussion meeting titled “Healthy Culture Practice and Our Young Society” and the Golden Achievement Award 2025 presentation ceremony organized by Samikaran Adarsh ​​Sangskritik Sangathan at the Bishwa Sahitya Kendra Auditorium in the capital on October 29.
The program was presided over by Dr. Rajiun Salma Laboni, moderated by Sabuj Roy and Soukhin Aziz. Former Additional Secretary and cultural figure Pirzada Shahidul Harun was present as the opening speaker.
Executive Editor and senior journalist of Dainik Sangbad Pratidin, Maksudel Hossain Khan Maksud, spoke as the main discussant.
Renowned US physician Dr. Charles David, cultural figure and actor Syed Shuvro, politician and businessman S.M. Aman Ullah, and the organization's founding general secretary Md. Masud Rana.
Chief guest Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman said, "We are gradually moving away from our own culture and heritage. We are losing our roots by imitating foreign subcultures. A united effort is needed to overcome this situation."
He called on the youth to play a more active role in the practice of local history, heritage and culture.
In his inaugural speech, Pirzada Shahidul Harun said, "Every nation in the world has its own culture and heritage, which is the basis of their identity. We must also strive to protect our own culture."
Chief discussant Maksudel Hossain Khan said in his speech, "The poison of subculture is penetrating the depths of society. We must be vocal against it at both the state and social levels. We must be vigilant so that our culture is not hijacked in any way."
In the last part of the program, the chief guest Professor Dr. Anisuzzaman announced the executive committee of Samikaran Adarsh ​​Cultural Organization for the next two years.
Maksudel Hossain Khan was elected as the president of the new committee, General Secretary Md. Masud Rana, Organizing Secretary Sabuj Roy and Treasurer Soukhin Aziz.
At the conclusion of the program, the 'Samikaran Golden Achievement Award 2025' was presented to 11 talented individuals in recognition of their special contributions to various fields of society.
