A tourist’s friendly Police Super

Md. Max, The Daily Tourist, Cox's Bazar: I am a frequent beach stepper of the world's longest sandy beach, Cox's Bazar. I admire the scenic beauty of nature, and I try to help the foreigners by showing them around, which has been done by me for more than twenty years in a row. But for your kind information, I must let you know something. If you really go to the sea beach with your dear and near ones or alone, you will be highly disturbed and annoyed by the vendors. Despite being the world’s most beautiful sea, you must know how to get yourself to enjoy this matter.  At first they will ask you if you need anything like coffee, tea, water, a cigarette, or anything else. If you drive them away, then they will be replaced by other kids shouting at you for a massage or for listening to music.  As soon as you ignore them, there will be horse riders, bikers, and speedboat drivers with lucrative offers. Your silent enjoyment and superb freshness of mind are finished and ruined by the persistent offers of these trouble makers. It has been a big problem for the travelers from home and abroad for a long time. Photographers will make your life hell. Finally, I can say with the initiative and extreme determination of a great, responsible police supervisor, the problems have been solved in many contexts.

Now you can breathe fresh air without the chaos and insistence of these polluters of the beach area. This determined cop is none other than Mr. Apple Mahmud, the additional DIG and the head of the Cox's Bazar tourist police.  Resulting from the earnest desire of the Tourism Ministry of the Republic of Bangladesh. Tourist police, a distinctly new unit, have been instituted in the Bangladesh Police with the objective of helping the development of the tourism industry by facilitating the foreign and the local tourists, improving the ecological environment, and preserving the culture and heritage of Bangladesh, a reverie country adorned with incomparable bounties and immense exquisite natural beauties, and thereby expediting the pace of its overall development.  The unit is tasked with the responsibilities of proiding security to the tourist and protecting all the tourist spots of the country.  One of the foremost objectives is to improve the image of Bangladesh as a country of peace-loving people to the outside world and help develop the tourism industry to the fullness of each potentiality.  Now back to him.  His incredible task of eviction drives on illegal settlements brought him a countrywide reputation.  Every day he goes in disguise to drive all the trouble makers away. He sends his platoon of cops across the tourism area to keep eyes on travelers, including foreigners. He has been a nature lover and an honest police officer who has been so ironic as to do everything possible for him to bring the tranquility and peace for the tourists coming here across the globe. The finest thing he did, which is eulogized by many, is demolishing the mobile fish vendor sellers who, by the name of selling fried fish and crabs, sell rotten, stale, unhealthy fish.  We thank him for his great task, as we are still lucky that no one died of food poisoning from these unhygienic fish. Now the road is looking spacious and clean and calm. My Scottish friend Tim Steel, who is in the surfing club, always asks me a question. It is great to remove all the trouble makers from the beach area, but how long will it be continued, I wonder? So we also ask the authority, Mr. Apple Mahmud, if he is doing his job with great effort, but how long can he be doing these incredible works of his?

In one of his interviews, he confessed to me that he had made a lot of enemies so far for his beach cleanup operations. We still believe that he won’t move from the ongoing service he is doing for all of us. We always will be at his side. Thanks, Mr. Apple, for your praiseworthy works. Since joining the tourist police, he has arrested a good number of miscreants and saved a huge number of children from going missing.  As I mentioned earlier, I demolished rotten fish-selling shops from Shuganda Beach Road. It is really wonderful to see the saga continue.
