Three people were killed when a bus hit an auto-rickshaw near the Mahadevpur bus stand on the Dhaka-Aricha highway under Shibalaya upazila of the district today.
The deceased were identified as Zahidul islam, 40, son of Afaz Uddin, Abdul Rahman, 25, son of Intaj Khan and autorickshaw driver Abdur Razzaque, 30, son of Abdul Motaleb. All are residents of Bora Hapania village of the upazila.
Riyad Mahmud, in-charge of the Barangail Highway Police Outpost, said the accident occurred at noon when a speedy bus knocked the autorickshaw, leaving both the passengers of the autorickshaw dead on the spot and injuring its driver.
Critically injured autorickshaw driver Razzaque died on the way to hospital. A case was filed with Shibalaya Police Station in this connection.
