After over three years, Bangladesh Cricket Board will hold its annual general meeting today at a city hotel.
BCB's AGM will be held at 12 p.m. This will be most of the BCB's first meeting since Halloween, on October 2.
Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the board's chief executive officer, acknowledged that the board has not been able to fulfill their constitutional obligation of holding the AGM every year, but said that this time the Covid-19 pandemic delayed their plans.
Our board will meet for its annual general meeting on Tuesday, August 26. Our limitations have prevented us from holding our annual general meeting for the last three years, stated the CEO on Wednesday.
The AGM this year was held in July. 'Covid made that impossible,' he added.
The BCB's excuse that the pandemic prevented them from holding the AGM doesn't hold water, since they've failed to hold their annual meetings regularly for quite some time.
Three AGMs have been held by the board in the last 14 years, and only one took place during Nazmul Hasan's tenure as president.
As of 2017, the previous two AGMs were held on October 24th, 2010 and March 1st, 2012.
A few limitations apply. A variety of activities are carried out by our organization. Furthermore, there was the Covid-19 situation,' said the board's chief executive.
BCB's preparations are complete for the AGM, and Councillors have already gathered in Dhaka, said Nizamuddin.
We are close to completing our preparations now that the date has been set. The majority of our council members remain in Dhaka. I am hoping that we will be able to organize our annual general meeting smoothly and beautifully.
Nizamuddin assured that the agendas would be discussed and implemented in accordance with the constitution.
Our constitution outlines our agendas. This year's AGM will primarily focus on the chief executive officer's report, the audited financials, and the budget.
