A father named Zakir Hossain killed a 14-month-old girl child by waking her up and throwing her into a pond in Sherpur of Bogra. Zakir Hossain was handed over to the police by the local people after the body was recovered.
The incident took place in the village of Khokalbaria of Kusumbi Union of the upazila on Tuesday night.The victim’s family said that Zakir had dreamed that he would get wealth if he put his daughter in the pond. On the other hand, the police say that he caused this murder because he had a daughter.
Zakir Hossain is the son of Idris Ali of that village. The name of the deceased child is Humaira Khatun.It is known that Rabeya Khatun, daughter of Ramzan Ali of Nama Singrapara village of Buril Union of Nandigram Upazila, got married to Zakir seven years ago. A girl child was born after one year. Her name is Jannati Khatun. Currently six years old. After that, father Zakir was expecting a boy. But the second child is also a girl.
The deceased’s grandmother Saleha Bibi said that many of the family sometimes dreamed that a child from their family was drowning in the water of the pond. After discussing the matter with Zakir, they poured milk and rice in the pond several times. Even after that, such an incident happened to them.
Rabeya Khatun, the mother of the deceased child, said, I woke up in the middle of the night and saw that my daughter Humaira was not on the bed. Call the girl’s father. Later, wake up the whole family and tell the matter. Then everyone came and started searching. Later in the morning, the husband confessed to killing his daughter and found the body in the pond.
